Prayer to the Holy SpiritPrayer For Priests Radiating Christ Mary, Queen in Charge of the Angels Prayer to St Michael The Memorare Prayer to the Guardian Angels Prayer to St Joseph The Angelus Prayer to the Holy Spirit (used by Father Jozo in Medjugorje) Holy Spirit! Lord of light! From your clear celestial height, your pure, beaming radiance give: Come, You Father of the poor! Come, with treasures which endure! Come, You light of all that live! You, of all consolers best, Visiting the troubled breast, Do refreshing peace bestow: You in toil are comfort sweet; Pleasant coolness in the heat; Solace in the midst of woe. Light immortal! light divine! Visit You these hearts of your, And our inmost being fill. If You take your grace away, Nothing pure in man will stay; All his good is turned to ill. Heal our wounds -- our strength renew; On our dryness pour your dew; Wash the stains of guilt away: Bend stubborn heart and will; Melt frozen, warm the chill; Guide the steps that go astray. You on those who evermore you confess and you adore, In your sevenfold gifts descend. Give them comfort when they die; Give them life with you on high; Give them joys which never end. Amen.
Prayer for Priests (Back to Top) By Sr. Briege McKenna and Father Kevin Scallon www.intercessionforpriests.org Lord Jesus, You have chosen your priests from among us and sent them out to proclaim your word and to act in your name. For so great a gift to your church, we give you praise and thanksgiving. We ask you to fill them with the fire of your love, that their ministry may reveal your presence in the Church. Since they are earthen vessels, we pray that your power shine out through their weakness. In their afflictions let them never be crushed; in their doubts never despair; in temptation never be destroyed; in persecution never abandoned. Inspire them through prayer to live each day the mystery of your dying and your rising. IN times of weakness, send them your spirit and help them to praise your heavenly Father and pray for poor sinners. By the same Holy Spirit put your word on their lips and your live in their hearts , to bring good news to the poor and healing to the broken hearted. And may the gift of Mary, your Mother, the disciple whom you loved, be your gift to every priest. Grant that she who formed you in her human image may form them in your Divine image, by the power of your spirit, through the glory of God the Father. Amen.
RADIATING CHRIST (Recited every day by Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity) (Back to Top) Dear Jesus, help me to spread Your fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Your spirit and life. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Yours. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Your presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus! Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as You shine, so to shine as to be a light to others; the light, O Jesus, will be all from You; none of it will be mine: it will be You shining on others through me. Let me thus praise You in the way You love best: by shining on those around me. Let me preach You without preaching, not by words, but by my example, by the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what I do, the evident fullness of the love my heart bears to You.
Mary Queen in Charge of The Angels (Back to Top) There is another powerful prayer which invokes Mary as Queen in charge of the angels, which Pope Pius X gave his imprimatur to on June 8, 1908: O exalted Queen of Heaven, Supreme Mistress of the Angels, who from the beginning has received from God the power and the commission to crush the serpent’s head, we pray thee humbly, send down thy holy legions, that they, under thy command and power, may pursue the spirits of hell, everywhere wage war against them, defeat their boldness and thrust them into the abyss of hell. Who is like unto God? O kind and tender Mother, thou shalt ever remain our love and hope. O divine Mother, send thy holy angels to defend me and cast away from me the cruel enemy. Holy angels and archangels, defend us, protect us! Amen. PRAYER TO ST MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL (Back to Top) The faithful can say the prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel which Pope Leo XII recommended to be said after Holy Mass: “Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in this day of battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust Satan down to hell and with him all the wicked spirits who wander throughout the world for the ruin of souls.”
In 1995, Pope John Paul II also recommended that this prayer be recited after Holy Mass. THE MEMORARE (Back to Top) Remember, 0h most loving Virgin Mary, that it is a thing unheard of, that anyone ever had recourse to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, and was left forsaken. Filled therefore with confidence in your goodness I fly to you, Oh Mother, Virgin of virgins. To you I come, before you I stand, a sorrowful sinner. Despise not my poor words, Oh Mother of the Word of God, but graciously hear and grant my prayer. Amen.
Prayer to the Guardian Angels (Back to Top) In the 20th century, among those who have lived in great intimacy with their guardian angels, we should mention: Pope John XXIII, Sr. Faustina and Padre Pio. Alessio Parente, OFM wrote a wonderful book: Send me Your Guardian Angel, which contains the most beautiful testimonies of Padre Pio. Often, Padre Pio used to send his guardian angel to other people to help them. When people needed him, Padre Pio advised them to send him their guardian angel. In addition, when you visit the sanctuary where Padre Pio was a confessor and celebrant, San Giovanni Rotundo, you see a room filled wall to wall with letters. It is said that these letters were written by Pio’s angels. Father Werenfried von Straaten, founder of “L’Aide à l’Eglise en Détresse” (Help to the Church in Need) also gives wonderful testimonies coming from Communist jails in which some Western Christians sent their guardian angels to comfort the prisoners.
